Plywood header. I know that I'm mostly safe pre-drilling a hole that's hopefully straight but was curious what you guys recommend in this scenario to connect a clean 1/2" joint. As far as strength goes, what is the application for. Fine Woodworking or some other wood magazine last month had an article about joining plywood miters with splines and/or with aluminum angles attached to wood that fit into mortises on each piece of plywood. Structural integrity for a roof deck or a subfloor is under a differant scrutiny than cabinetwork but tensil strength may be a consideration for you.
