The Black Monarch looks fine, its a typical entry-level takedown, which is not a bad thing. I have a modern longbow/flatbow made by Fleetwood. I'd contact Fleetwood and get a replacement if you're comfortable giving them another chance. The Timber Ridge longbow is compact at only 60" length, but is a smooth shooter for draw lengths up to 29".
